Our 2nd Quarter Summit on April 29th achieved our goal of equipping attendees with resources and relationships to navigate through failure. One comment that was repeated by many was that our hands-on exercise was very powerful in taking what was learned and applying it in a very practical way.
Our first failure story came from Brett Varvel. Brett is the Executive Director of House of Grace Films and is an award winning Christian film maker. His most recent project, The War Within, won numerous awards and continues to impact audiences around the world. And yet the film did not meet the success criteria that Brett established for it at the beginning of the project. One lesson from Brett’s failing forward story was that his passion was critical in propelling him through initial failures and continuing on to achieve success.
Our second failure story cames from Robby Slaughter. Robby is a workflow and productivity expert, a nationally known speaker, and author. In 2010, Robby authored his first book: Failure: The Secret to Success. Robby’s story included the irony of taking his own advice regarding failure, persevering to see his book published and receive a 4 plus rating on Amazon.
Our practical application came from Failure: The Secret to Success. Attendees collaborated in small groups to apply the lessons learned from the morning.
We are moving the date of our 3rd Quarter Summit from that previously announced to avoid the July vacation period. Our revised date for our next Summit is August 26th. It will take place at Bitwise Solutions from 8:00 am till 9:30. One of our stories will come from Chris “The Brain” Hoyt asking the question: When does failure indicate a mistake and when is it simply unfavorable circumstances?
